Policy Internship

CCCHFA seeks a candidate to participate in a number of fisheries policy arenas in New England. The candidate will complement and assist CCCHFA as it campaigns for, develops, and implements accountable and responsible community-based fisheries management in the region. Policy opportunities will include but are not limited to groundfish, scallop, herring, lobster, monkfish, and skate management. The candidate will be expected to evaluate existing fishery monitoring programs and make recommendations for improvements that will help rebuild fish stocks while meeting regional social and economic goals. Responsibilities will include analysis of existing and future policies; coordinating outreach events with regional fishermen; literature searches; data entry; and other tasks as necessary. A portion of our work this summer will focus on our monitoring program which may require the candidate to spend some time at sea to better understand monitoring policy issues concerning both herring and groundfish Candidates will work closely with the CCCHFA Policy Team, local fishermen, and regional managers.
